Clawfoot Tub Refinishing

Nobody enjoys using an old bathtub. Have you taken a close look at your bathtub lately? Does it have cracks, chipped enamel, and ugly looking stains? No matter how much you need a bath after a long, hard week in the office, you simply cannot get into something that is in such bad shape. You deserve a change! Lucky for you, you have a few options when your biggest problem is a worn-out bathtub. You can purchase a new tub, apply an acrylic liner, or start a bathtub refinishing project.
 

 


After deciding on the style you want, you must choose the material and finish. Most bathtubs today are either cast iron or acrylic. Cast iron is extremely durable, solid, and elegant. However, they are extremely heavy, and tend to chip, so be prepared for a Bath Tub Refinishing project. If you prefer a lighter, easily maneuverable bathtub, you may want to consider an acrylic one. They also are completely waterproof, not only on the inside, which makes the tub incredibly easy to maintain and clean.

In the bathroom, check around your toilet for signs of leaks. The wax seal under the toilet is most common area for leaks and water damage. This seal is a circular form of wax that connects and seals the toilet to the drain flange beneath. One sign of potential damage 24 hour bathroom is if the toilet wobbles. This could mean the bolts that hold the toilet to the floor are loose or worn. This can cause the wax seal to crack or break. Water (and other material) may leak, causing discoloration to the ceiling on the floor below.

A favorite treatment I love in any work/clean environment is tile. I chose to backsplash the kitchen area behind the stove and the area behind the sink and toilet with small, glass tile, inset with custom-made fused glass artwork which I do myself. I also paint murals and will incorporate an animal motif in a special area to add dimension and whimsy to the space.

Usually, hiring a professional is the last option. It is expensive but they do get the job done. Before you do anything you have to determine first if you can fix the problem first especially if it is just bath tub restoration a clog or a leak.

Reorganize the clutter. If your bathroom is driving you nuts because it's unorganized and messy, it can really ruin your spirits. Can your problem be solved by adding more storage space or additional tower racks? If so, you've got an easy job. Look into investing in a bathroom vanity. These beautiful pieces of furniture can instantly transform a bathroom with its' distinct characteristics and abundant storage space. You can either go with a single or a double vanity, which has the ability to save you tons of time in the morning when you're used to hurrying your roommate or significant other out of the bathroom. It also leaves you with an easy way to clean up after yourself, and can neatly hold all of your toiletries.

No matter what kind of tub you install, you'll want to inspect your work numerous times to make sure everything has been done correctly. After you're convinced everything is right, you'll need to run a bead of caulking around all tub edges that meet the wall and allow the caulking to cure for at least 24 hours before using the tub. Installed incorrectly, the tub can actually slide back off the ledgers while you or a loved one is bathing. You can never be too careful. If you aren't totally comfortable with the work you've done, find a professional plumber to help you out.
